A Funny Modern Hiking Adventure

I woke up eager to explore a trail I could see from our hotel room and took off with little information. I’m a pretty wimpy walker so was a little concerned when the trail quickly became steep and uneven, then continued down further and further with every turn. I was beginning to feel anxiety about the return trip when suddenly the trail leveled off to a beautiful forest walk beside a bubbling brook. That’s the sweet spot!

Having no idea how long the path was (and still stressing about the return!) I was surprised when we suddenly emerged into a town! We’d already walked nearly 2 miles so I thought a rest was in order and I googled coffee nearby. Starbucks in .3 miles. If the coffee didn’t do the trick, we could probably call for a Lyft, right?

The street sign suddenly seemed familiar—didn’t we drive on this street to get to our hotel? Maps came through again…we could skip Starbucks and just walk .2 miles further to our free buffet breakfast!

Now THIS is my kind of “hiking adventure!”
