We Are Tim & Kathi

Our favorite things:

  • The Ocean beaches, cruises, snorkeling, fishing

  • Jungles the sounds, the wildlife, ziplining, tubing, caves and waterfalls

  • Wine Country the rows and rows of vines, amazing wines, food pairings

  • Mountains: the smell, the lakes and rivers, long walks through forest

  • Cities: the energy, the diversity, old & new architecture, history

  • Libations: wine, craft beers and cocktails, Tim’s home-brewed beer and custom-blend whiskey

  • Food: trying new things! From street food to tasting menus, preferably not cooking it ourselves

  • Games, Cards and Listening to Music we excel at the art of relaxing

  • People we get to know along the way, volunteering and serving as we love on those in need

  • Centering ourselves, always, in our family and our faith.

When our college relationship began to get serious, Tim told me (Kathi) that we needed to take a trip to see if we were compatible travelers. I agreed completely. So off we went to Cancun, where we decided we are both at our best while discovering new places and activities. Not long after that we were engaged, then married in 1991.

We left Southern California for the more affordable farmlands of the Central Valley of California, which also put us just over an hour from the nearby Central Coast wine country where we enjoy our favorite tasting hobby.

We raised four sons and a daughter, who are all now adults, building their careers and (some) starting families. Our youngest is in graduate school.

Tim’s career as a Physical Therapist, mostly in Home Health, has also included a couple of companies. He’s worked very hard and is excited to be retired!

My most important job has been mother, though I’ve used my old education reform career skills off and on in writing, marketing, management and bookkeeping. Most rewarding, I taught all of our children.

We’ve always made travel a priority as a couple, including longer trips once the kids were grown, and have always looked forward to really tasting life all over the world in our retirement years. A few years ago, we learned about the nomad lifestyle and realized that not only would it give us the most freedom but it was the most cost-effective retirement option. We had a goal! Our official launch date, 7/28/23. Of course, we prepared with lots of “practice” trips!

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
